You're Not Just A Mom: How To Be Intentional And Find Your Purpose

Uncategorized Jan 22, 2020

I used to think it was just women from my generation (yeah...I’m a boomer) that felt like being a mom WAS their sole purpose!

Pardon my mini-generalization here...being a mom IS truly one of the most incredible things a woman can do but when you’re buried in laundry and carting kids in carpools, you might forget who that lovely lady is looking back at you in the mirror.

Where did she go? Nowhere, that’s where. But while you were listening to Baby Shark blasting in your minivan, you stopped listening to your own voice - the one that says, you’re pretty darn cool.

I bow in honor to any mom out there who never stopped listening to that voice! You are truly a goddess and if you can share your secret, I believe you could solve all the problems of mankind!

But, unfortunately, many, many of us DO lose the ability to hear the voice coming from our very own core - that place where we know who we are and what we’re all about.

Somewhere along the way, our mom lives become equipped with an autopilot button. At first, this button is super helpful because it helps you skate through your days seamlessly. And then before you know it, the button gets stuck and somehow you don’t even’ll get it fixed maybe sometime...maybe never…

However, that autopilot button does nothing to serve YOUR purpose. It’s a trap that keeps you stuck driving down the same roads, wishing there were a few “Blues Clues” that could steer you back to where you once were. And unless you take some seriously intentional steps back to yourself, you are going to feel like you’re endlessly going nowhere fast!

Have no fear Mama! There IS a little roadmap that can get you back - a treasure hunt of where YOU are the prize at the end of the road! By answering the following questions, you’ll be able to gather the clues you need to arrive back to YOU!

  • What are my ‘core’ values?
  • What gives me the most energy/motivates me?
  • Who is someone I really admire? What is it about them that makes me feel that way?

It’s not hard, but it does require you to stop, look and listen to yourself for a moment. When you take time to connect back to YOU, you’ll be able to connect more deeply and completely in every relationship in your life!
